Women Ngo Working Towards Society Overall Development

Around the world, the total women population constitutes fifty percent of the total world's population. A large section of women around the world are unemployed and are deprived of their basic rights such as the right to education, right to equality etc. Women empowerment is the process of creating an environment for women where they are able to make decisions on their own for their personal life as well as for the society. In other terms, women empowerment focuses on elaborating and equating women social rights, political rights, judicial strength and economic stability.In short women empowerment comprises of:
Ability to live freely with the sense of self-worth, dignity, and respect.
Have their equivalent rights for economic justice and social.
Ability to make their own choices and decisions.
Have safe and comfortable working environment.
Ability to participate in various social, public and religious activities equally.
The main advantage of women empowerment is that it will help in the overall development of the society. It helps in reducing domestic violence by creating awareness among the women about their basic rights. Also, according to the research conducted by United Nation's welfare for women, uneducated women are facing higher rates of domestic violence when compared to educated one's.
After almost seven decades of independence, Indian women have made a significant progress in every field of life. They have faced plentiful social tribulations in the male-dominated culture. The status of women started to deteriorate in the latter half of the Vedic civilization. They were denied right to education, widow remarriage, right to inheritance and ownership of property etc. Irrespective of the fact that India has made significant progress in terms of all fields and have gained applauses from around the world, but when it comes to overall social development, India is placed in 29th rank among 146 countries in Gender Inequality Index.
